We also work with City officials, elected leaders, businesses, and the general public in planning for Dunn’s future. Staff conducts research, using census and other data from local, regional, and national sources, to understand trends that can impact Dunn’s growth.

We work with the Dunn Downtown Development Corporation (DDDC) to continue downtown development and support downtown Dunn’s participation in the North Carolina Main Street Program.

We pursue and administer grants, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Program Grant. This grant helps the community identify brownfields that could be potential development sites and encourage their redevelopment into productive assets.

If you have questions about your property, possible new improvements, or about Dunn long range plans, please call the Planning Department at 910-230-3505 and we’ll do our best to assist you.

More About Dunn

Dunn was originally called "Lucknow" and was renamed in 1873

The city of Dunn was incorporated on February 12, 1887, at which time it was a logging town and a turpentine distilling center. The name honors Bennett Dunn, who supervised the construction of the railway line between Wilson and Fayetteville.
