Public Works » Water Treatment Plant« All Departments

The City of Dunn Water Treatment Plant is located near the Cape Fear River in Erwin NC. The plant is operated by plant superintendent Mr. Darryl Glover. Mr. Glover can be reached at (910) 897-5129.

The A.B Uzzle Water Treatment Facility was originally constructed in 1968 as a 4 million gallon per day Water Treatment Facility.

The City's Water Treatment Facility employes 4 full time operators, 1 maintenance technican, 1 relief operator, 1 relief technician, and the Plants ORC(Operator in Responsible Charge).

The Water Plant underwent a major upgrade in 1990 to increase the treatment capability to the current 8 million gallon per day capacity. The facility has since received several smaller improvements, which include the addition of a 3 million gallon storage facility along with the ability to feed chloramines. The plant has also replaced the old chlorine gas feed system with a much safer sodium hypochlorite solution for disinfection. A standby generator was also added at the plant and the raw water pump station to ensure a constant power supply during periods of power outage.

The plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to insure the citizens of Dunn and many surrounding counties and towns an ample supply of high quality potable water. We monitor over one hundred and twenty (120) possible water contaminates routinely and the plants staff is proud to let you know we have never exceeded the State and Federal EPA maximum contaminant levels, nor have we been cited for any regulations or violations.

It is our primary goal to have the highest quality water possible at the absoulte lowest cost to the consumer. We invited anyone who wishes to see how their water is processed to come by and see our facility.
