**Suspect Arrested for the Homicide of Octavius Holmes**

On Saturday, December 22nd, 2018, members of the Dunn Police Department Criminal Investigative Division, obtained warrants for the arrest of Alexander Corrdaryl Nelson, B/M, 07/09/1996, of Raleigh N.C., for the shooting death of Octavius Holmes. Octavius Holmes was fatally shot on December, 18th 2018, at 109 Sawyer Circle, Dunn N.C.


Nelson was charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Injury to Real Property, Injury to Personal Property.

The Dunn Police Department would like to express thanks to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and the Raleigh Police Department for assisting in the apprehension of Nelson.


Nelson was arrested without incident in the Raleigh area and transported to the Harnett County Jail. Nelson is being held without bond on the charge of 1stdegree murder. He was also given a $280,000 Secure Bond for the remaining charges and a first appearance court date of 12/27/2018.

1-Octavius Holmes B/M DOB: 08/22/1997 (Deceased)

2-Tavius Jackson B/M DOB: 07/23/1999 (Critical Condition)


Homicide Investigation:

On Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at approximately 10:59 pm, Officers with the Dunn Police Department responded to the area of 109 Sawyer Cir, in reference to a report of two gunshot victims. Upon arrival, Dunn Police Officers located victim #1, Octavius Holmes, in the driver’s seat of an older model SUV having multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim Tavius Jackson, was found inside the residence of 109 Sawyer Cir. with a gunshot to the lower abdomen area. Both victims were transported to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Soon after arriving at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital, Octavius Holmes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical staff. Tavius Jackson subsequently was airlifted to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation suggests this was not a random act of violence. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time, and Investigators are requesting anyone with information contact them at 910-892-2399 or (910) 230-3529.

Location: 500 N. Clinton Ave. Dunn, N.C.

Victim: Anthony Durand Jacobs B/M DOB: 10/26/1975

Homicide Investigation:

On Saturday, May 05, 2018 at approximately 12:23 am, Officers with the Dunn Police Department responded to 500 N. Clinton Ave., in reference to a report of a subject who had been shot. Dunn Police Officers located the victim, Anthony D. Jacobs, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen area. Mr. Jacobs was transported to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, and subsequently airlifted to Wake Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed a suspect or suspects fired into the home of 500 N. Clinton Ave., striking Mr. Jacob’s inside the residence. Investigators conducted interviews of witnesses where preliminary information suggests this was not a random act of violence. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time, and Investigators are requesting anyone with information contact them at 910-892-2399 or (910) 230-3529.

Victim: Xavier Shaquan Gayle, Erwin N.C., B/M DOB: 07/01/1988

Victim: John Junior Harris, Dunn N.C., B/M DOB: 12/301982

Investigation: AWDWISIWIK

On Sunday, June 03, 2018 at approximately 3:29 am, Officers with the Dunn Police Department responded to 1207 N. Railroad Ave., reference to reports of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed a suspect or suspects fired gunshots in a crowd of people who were attending a party. The gunshots struck two (2) people. First victim, Xavier Shaquan Gayle of Erwin N.C., sustained a gunshot wound to the facial area and was transported to Wake Medical Center for life threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition. The second victim, (John Junior Harris) was transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital for gunshot wounds to both legs and subsequently transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators conducted interviews with multiple witnesses where preliminary information suggests this was not a random act of violence. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time, and Investigators are requesting anyone with information contact them at 910-892-2399 or (910) 230-3556.
