City of Dunn - Plannning Board

The Planning Board is a seven-member board established to review and recommend establishment, revision and approval of:

The City General Land Use Plan

The City Code of Ordinances, relating to development and use of land

Proposed development and use of land

The Planning Board is charged with the responsibility to carry out its duties for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals and the general welfare of the community. Their responsibility is to assure that the development and use of land occur in compliance with federal, state and local statutes, regulations and ordinances.

All issues to be addressed by the Planning Board are placed on an agenda. This agenda frequently contains items requiring one or more public hearings. Such hearings are advertised in the newspaper and typically include individual mailings to adjoining property owners.

All items to be placed on the agenda must be submitted to the Planning Department approximately three weeks before the date of the meeting. Many items require the submittal of a completed application form, plans, deeds, ownership information or other information to help the Planning Board to evaluate the proposal. Please contact the Planning Department for specific requirements for actions you wish brought before the Planning Board.

If you have any questions concerning the Planning Board or have an interest in serving on the Planning Board in the future, please contact the Planning Department at 910-230-3503 or at City Hall, 401 East Broad Street.

The regularly scheduled meetings of the Planning Board are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
