  • When is my utility bill due?

    The current charges due shown on the bill are payable upon receipt of the bill. Current charges are considered delinquent after the date shown as the due date.
  • When is cut-off day for water?

    The City of Dunn Water Department disconnects water/sewer service sometime after the 30th of each month. The actual date of disconnection varies from month to month. Therefore, you must check your monthly bill or contact the Water Deparment at (910) 230-3510 for the appropriate date of disconnection.

  • What if I can’t pay my bill by the due date?

    If the amount due for current charges is not paid by the due date, the account will be subject to a 10% late penalty. If the amount due for charges and the late penalty are not paid by the disconnect date, the service will be disconnected and a $35.00 administrative fee will be added to the account. Reconnection will only be made upon the payment of the full amount due including, late penalties and administrative fee charges.

  • When is interest added to water accounts?

    Interest charges are added at the close of business on the 20th of each month. If the 20th of the month is on Saturday or Sunday, the interest charges will be added at the end of the next business day.

  • What is the minimum monthly bill for water and sewer service?

    The minimum monthly bill for water and sewer service inside the city limits is $37.00. In addition, the $26.25 fee for solid waste, recycling and yard waste collection is billed at the same time. Therefore, the minimum monthly bill for water, sewer, solid waste collection, recycling, yard waste and storm water fee is $63.25.

  • How can I receive a water adjustment on my bill due to a leak?

    The City of Dunn Finance Department will adjust two (2) bills per year (from the initial month you receive the first adjustment to the same month the following year) due to water leaks. If you had a leak at your residence or business and the leak has been corrected, please contact the City of Dunn Water Department at (910) 230-3510 or (910) 230-3511. The Water Department will send someone from Public Works to verify the problem has been corrected. After verification, a staff member of the Water Department will adjust your bill based on the prior three (3) months of usage without leaks. The water adjustment WILL NOT adjust your bill to a NORMAL monthly bill. The adjustment method is as follows: You will be charged full price for all consumption according to your normal household or business usage and all excess water consumption above your normal usage will be charged at approximately half price. Sewer consumption according to your normal household or business usage will be charged at full price and all excess sewer charges are removed from your account.

  • Finance Department Operating Hours

    The City of Dunn Finance Department is open for business Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seasonal hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m are in effect from May 1st through September 30th.

Dunn was originally called "Lucknow" and was renamed in 1873

The city of Dunn was incorporated on February 12, 1887, at which time it was a logging town and a turpentine distilling center. The name honors Bennett Dunn, who supervised the construction of the railway line between Wilson and Fayetteville.
