Employee Information

The City of Dunn follows an adopted Personnel Policy. It is the purpose of this policy and the rules and regulations set forth to establish a fair and uniform system of personnel administration for all employees of the City under the supervision of the City Manager and City Council. This policy is established under authority of Policy 160A, Article 7, of the General Statutes of North Carolina.

The Administrator of the Personnel Policy is our Human Resources Officer.

The responsibilities of the Human Resource Officer are to make recommendations to the City Manager on the following:

  • Recommend rules and revisions to the personnel system to the City Manager for consideration;
  • Recommend changes as necessary to maintain an up to date and accurate position classification;
  • Recommend necessary revisions to the pay plan;
  • Recommend which employees shall be subject to overtime provisions of FLSA;
  • Maintain a roster of all persons in the municipal service;
  • Establish and maintain a list of authorized positions in the municipal service at the beginning of each budget year which identifies each authorized position, salary range, and changes in class title and status, position number and other such data as may be desireable or useful;
  • Develop and administer such recruiting programs as may be necessary to obtain an adequate supply of competent applicants to meet the needs of the City;
  • Develop and coordinate training and educational programs for the City employees;
  • Investigate periodically the operation and effect of the personnel provisions of the adopted policy; and
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the City Manager on inconsistent with the adopted policy.
