Dunn Hires New Planning Director
With a degree in
history from the University of Michigan, a teaching certification from Eastern
Michigan University, and a master’s degree in American studies from the
University of Notre Dame, George Adler joins the City of Dunn planning
department after 10-years with the City of Raleigh as a planner in the Housing
& Neighborhoods Department.
One of Mr. Adler's
responsibilities over the past few years with the City of Raleigh focused on
improving how city and county provide services to homeless individuals and
families. As the Team Lead, Mr. Adler helped plan and implement Raleigh’s
strategic plan to make those fundamental improvements with the project
culminating with the grand opening of the new Oak City Center on April 8, 2019,
a multiservice center that will help people establish stable housing in the

will benefit greatly from Mr. Adler’s attention to detail and wide base of

getting to know the Dunn community,” Mr. Adler said. “I’m very interested to
learn how the residents of Dunn envision their future and would be privileged
to help them move toward it.” While off the clock, Mr. Adler is an avid reader
and spends time with his wife Catherine who enjoys playing bluegrass.
Mr. Adler will
begin his position on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, as the City of Dunn shifts into
its summer hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
