Dunn: All-American City 1989-2013

Dunn Hires New Planning Director

With a degree in history from the University of Michigan, a teaching certification from Eastern Michigan University, and a master’s degree in American studies from the University of Notre Dame, George Adler joins the City of Dunn planning department after 10-years with the City of Raleigh as a planner in the Housing & Neighborhoods Department.

One of Mr. Adler's responsibilities over the past few years with the City of Raleigh focused on improving how city and county provide services to homeless individuals and families. As the Team Lead, Mr. Adler helped plan and implement Raleigh’s strategic plan to make those fundamental improvements with the project culminating with the grand opening of the new Oak City Center on April 8, 2019, a multiservice center that will help people establish stable housing in the Raleigh area.

The City of Dunn will benefit greatly from Mr. Adler’s attention to detail and wide base of professional experience.

“I look forward to getting to know the Dunn community,” Mr. Adler said. “I’m very interested to learn how the residents of Dunn envision their future and would be privileged to help them move toward it.” While off the clock, Mr. Adler is an avid reader and spends time with his wife Catherine who enjoys playing bluegrass.

Mr. Adler will begin his position on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, as the City of Dunn shifts into its summer hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
