The City of Dunn Boards and Commissions provide a way that its residents can participate in the governments of their City. The City Council regulates, sets terms of offices and establishes the duties for certain Boards and Commissions.

Members are appointed by the majority of the City Council. This allows interested citizens to submit their names and qualifications for consideration.

If you are interested in being considered for membership on a board or commission, please use the links provided to complete an advisory board application (see downloadable forms) and submit it to the City Clerk. Length of service varies with the particular Board or Commission. Consult the City Clerk regarding length of term on a specific Board or Commission.

Planning Board

The Planning Board is made up of seven members, six reside inside the City limits and one resides within the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The Planning Board meets at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers located at 401 E. Broad Street. The meetings are open to the public. The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing all development proposals for rezonings, and other development-related requests, and offers recommendations on these to the City Council. The Planning Board also develops and recommends revisions and additions to the City's Zoning Ordinance.

Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment is made up of seven members; six reside inside the City limits and one resides within the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The Board of Adjustment meets, as needed at 7:00 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers located at 401 E. Broad Street. The meetings are open to the public. The Board of Adjustment has quasi-judicial powers and acts separately from the City Council. The Board of Adjustment conducts public hearings and renders rulings on variances from the City's Zoning Ordinance. The Board of Adjustment also hears any appeals to decisions made by the Department of Planning staff.

Dunn Library Board of Trustees

The Library Board has seven members. It meets at 7:00 p.m. the second Monday of each quarter in the Dunn Public Library at 110 E Divine Street. The Library Board recommends to the City Council actions as may be necessary to create and develop an adequate and complete library system.
